PRODUCT INFORMATION

5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) is a metabolite of L-tryptophan, the amino acid necessary for the synthesis of the neurotransmitter serotonin (3).  Adequate levels of serotonin support mood and restful sleep in this botanical nootropic.

5-HTP Benefits

  • Supports maintaining a healthy weight (ref)*
  • Mood support and promotes relaxation (ref)*
  • Promotes healthy sleep (ref)*

5-HTP Mode of Action

Serotonin:  the feel-good neurochemical we all need.  Some of us don’t get enough of it, and we can have a sour mood, difficulty maintaining a healthy weight, and disturbed sleep when our reserves are running low.

Fortunately, nature has given us a solution in the form of a botanical extract which is rich in the precursors our bodies need to make serotonin, 5-HTP.

5-HTP is an extract of the shrub Griffonia simplicifolia which contains tryptophan, one of the necessary building blocks for serotonin synthesis within the body.  Choosing to supplement with 5-HTP is an effective shortcut that’s already done half the work for you by providing your body with serotonin’s most direct precursor.  It’s more effective than supplementing with tryptophan alone, and with 70% of the 5-HTP you take going straight to the bloodstream, it’s a biohack you’re sure to feel good about! (2)

5-HTP is very powerful because of its direct role in serotonin synthesis. Please be aware of any interactions before purchasing.

5-HTP Dosage

Pure Nootropics’ 5-HTP provides 100 mg per 1 capsule. Suggested use in adults is 1 capsule by mouth daily, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.

If you are taking any medications, please consult with your healthcare practitioner before beginning supplementation with 5-HTP. Do not use if pregnant or nursing.
